Training Officer

My client based in Sheffield has a new job available for a Training Officer on a temporary basis until December 2008.

You will be responsible for providing a holistic learning, development and communication service aligned to the organisation’s Performance Management Framework, taking a lead role in the delivery of the Executive’s Equality and Diversity obligations.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the delivery of the organisation’s Learning & Development Plan, including management of external consultants to ensure a cost effective and professional service.

Assist in the development and co-ordination of the ‘VALUED’ process, Leadership Academy and the organisational training plan to ensure alignment with the Integrated Planning Process and Performance Management System.

Evaluate the effectiveness of Learning and Development interventions, involving the use of various methods such as surveys, questionnaires, interviews and observations and use these results to plan future courses and/or to improve existing ones.

Assist in the design, development and delivery of various development programmes and interventions, including the drafting of objectives and the production of training manuals and support materials in order to meet to organisational and individual learning and development requirements.

Assist in the development and delivery of projects and initiatives, to assist the delivery of the organisation’s Learning and Development Strategy and the Departmental Business Plan.

Represent the Learning and Development Team at the Executive’s Equality and Diversity Forum to ensure legal compliance and promote the Executive as an exemplary Equality and Diversity employer and lead in Learning and Development initiatives in this area.

Ensure initiatives such as Investors in People are incorporated into the culture and are used in support of the Integrated Planning Process.

Act as an advisor and resource for employees, providing advice and guidance and where necessary support in relation to all aspects of Learning and Development.
Coordinate, complete and submit funding paperwork to appropriate funding bodies in order to maximise funding available to aid learning and development delivery.

Maintain, review and develop robust Learning and Development procedures and working practices incorporating audit recommendations to ensure the efficient functioning of the team at all times

Maintain the budget information by the recording of information such as commitments, estimated and actual expenditure and assist in the preparation of information in order to ensure the effective utilisation of the Learning and Development Delivery budget.

Any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by the Senior Learning and Development Officer.



The Qualities:

You will have experience of working within a Learning and Development environment, including the sourcing and management of external suppliers.

We are looking for a team player with good communication and presentation skills, who can demonstrate strong analytical skills, an ability to manage their own workload and the enthusiasm and determination to deliver results.

Ideally educated to degree level, you will also ideally be qualified to CIPD with at least Part 1 level CIPD, or be willing to work towards a recognised Learning & Development qualification. Computer literacy and knowledge of all aspects of the training cycle are also essential in this role.
